When you contact us, you can firstly ask for further written
information about psychoanalytic psychotherapy, about APEL and, if you are
anxious about finances, about the APEL Charitable Trust.
You can also ask to arrange an initial assessment appointment
for yourself. The referrals co-ordinator (who is a psychotherapist), may ask you
a few brief questions about yourself or send you a questionnaire to fill in.
They will then arrange an initial appointment, and send you the details through
the post.
After the assessment process is completed (which usually
involves one or two sessions, occasionally more) the assessor will undertake
either to find a psychotherapist for you, or to refer you to a more appropriate
source of help. Consideration will be given to your geographical, time and
financial requirements.
If you are under 18 we would need to refer you elsewhere.
